It is inspired by a contemplation on the boarder between private and public space. Where does the one start and the other end? Through this functional object, the film connects the author‘s personal friendship with a shoemaker creating these shoes to the lives and working conditions of it bearers. &nbsp; &nbsp; The film is a subjective collage of portraits of labourers as well as the friendship. At the same time an inner dialogue questions the personal involvement and ambitions for portraying and filming the shown material. It is a material that is used for sculptural creation but mostly serves as a primary material for the cosmetic industry as the base for powders and make up.&nbsp; &nbsp; The work consits of a photographic series installed on the walls that shows a refining process of a brasil soap stone. The photographs show several stages of the stone being treated in order to perfect its natural form. In the middle of the room every visitor was invited to pick up a book free of charge. The book consits of a photographic research trip into Minas Gerais, Brazil the area where the brasil soap stone is being won.&nbsp; &nbsp; The book consits of a photographic research trip into Minas Gerais, Brazil the area where the brasil soap stone is being won. &nbsp; &nbsp; All the pictures were taken with analog cameras, using a Kodak Potra or Ektar film, which for decades were the standard film for portrait photography and until today are being advertised as being fitted “for excellent skin tones“. The pictures are accompanied by a text from a friend that is printed in its original German with translations into Portuguese, Spanish and English. Every book also be- ars two further elements that are glued into the middle of the book; a razorblade and a transparent bag full of talcum powder that was won as a residue when shaping the stone shown fitting 2017. &nbsp; &nbsp; Container is an Installation consisting of a Lego model containership made of glazed porcelain and a vending machine made of hickory wood and acrylic glass, which is filled with 3 cm big porcelain reproductions of lego stones. The front glass is scratched from the inside with the letters “there is no sea behind this city.” This glass is exchangeable and is adjusted to every new exhibition space. The visitor is implicitly invited to autono- mously buy a porcelain lego stone from the machine for one euro. Through this action, the work investigates the initiation process by which, as a child, one autonomously enters into the world of exchange of goods for money.The materiality of porcelain in globalized, and modularized market holds further symbolic value as it is not only historically charged with being a long traded commodity but also by the characteristics of the material itself. It is both extremely hard and fragile at the same time. For this the visitors are invited to sit in a chair made of brazil wood which has been the first material to be exported from South america in great quantities during the portugese colonization. It hols a strong identificatory value for the Brasil, since the countrys name derives from this wood. &nbsp; &nbsp; The video loop shows the work of salt miners from the Coipasa Salt desert of Bolivia. This place is on eof the two south american salt deserts where 80% of the worlds lithium reserves can be found. By using this recognizable form, the work also investigates the visual ideologies of our worldwide economic system represented in the most usual, daily used objects. &nbsp; &nbsp; The Title also hints to the importance of peripheric econmic regions that are of existential necessity to its econimic centers.
